“We were delighted with InteriorsTeam and the fact they delivered the project within the timescales specified, and within budget, making them the only supplier to do so. InteriorsTeam even helped Eastleigh Borough Council move into our new premises, even though the building wasn’t quite ready.

We were really pleased with InteriorsTeam’s flexibility and willingness to help us, particularly when internal situations arose that were beyond our control.”

The Challenge

Eastleigh Borough Council was looking to relocate to new premises as its existing building was in urgent need of repair to achieve minimum office standards. The layout of the existing office space consisted of offices of a variety of sizes, so in the new premises they wanted to consolidate space and move towards an open office, including collaborative areas and ‘hot desking’. It was important to Eastleigh Borough Council to demonstrate to employees how their new environment could work, which they did through a number of ‘open’ workshops. The council was also conscious it was using public money, so it was important to re-use as much furniture as possible.

Our Solution

InteriorsTeam acted as the facilitator to bring current workplace ideas to Eastleigh Borough Council, and to show how furniture could be re-used and, where it wasn’t possible, how OfficeTeam’s Recycling Programme could be used.

Where new items of furniture were required, InteriorsTeam ensured the items were either FSC sourced or had similar environmental credentials; this was an important factor to Eastleigh Borough Council as it was planning to enter its building into several awards, including BREEAM, a design and assessment method for sustainable buildings.

InteriorsTeam worked alongside Eastleigh Borough Council’s facilities team, and the manufacturer, to ensure the final solution met its expectations.

Eastleigh Borough Council has now implemented its ‘new way of working’ and, with the help of a well-designed workspace, their employees are happy and fully embracing their new working environment.

InteriorsTeam continue to have a good working relationship with Eastleigh Borough Council, receiving regular orders for items outside the scope of the original project.

Who is Eastleigh Borough Council?

The council, based in Hampshire, has 44 councilors representing 19 wards. The council has over 120, 000 residents living in the Borough and is responsible for local matters; traffic management; leisure facilities and local refuse collections and recycling. By moving to newly renovated premises in the town centre, the council is now more visible and accessible to its customers and local businesses. Also, by investing in the town, the council is contributing to long-term regeneration and the growth of the area.
